In what has come out as a shock to all, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming 20-20 World Cup with a back stress fracture. He also missed the Asia Cup 2022 with the same injury, and it proved to be highly problematic for India as they crashed out of the tournament in an embarrassing fashion. India however has able replacements for the bowler this time around with a good crop of young and experienced bowlers ready to take the responsibility.
Let’s look at three players who can replace Jasprit Bumrah in the Indian squad for the 20-20 World Cup.
Mohammad Shami
Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah are India’s main ODI and Test bowlers. The two have combined to make the Indian bowling attack one of the very best in the world. Shami however was given a pass when it comes to T20I matches.
The right arm pacer however was called back to the national side after many months following the Asia Cup failure. The management seems to have changed their mind about his place in the shortest format. Having taken 99 wickets in the Indian T20 League, the 32-year-old could be a great replacement for the injured Bumrah.
