The Hit & Miss
The Openers: India’s openers, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, who also serve as captain and vice-captain, had a forgettable tournament. Despite having three centuries combined, they could not contribute much. Throughout the tournament, both struggled to get going.
Lost opportunity in Yuzvendra Chahal: Chahal was not used by the Indian team in any of their games. The 32-year-old could have been crucial in the Australian conditions, particularly against England. His wicket-taking abilities would have been handy in the match.
Poor overall bowling: The Australian conditions favour fast bowlers in any game. However, the Indian bowlers could not capitalize on them. Except for Arshdeep, no one could do much in the bowling department. The senior players, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, and Ravichandran Ashwin, had high expectations.
