The Men in Blue crashed out of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 after losing to England in the semi-finals on November 10, Thursday. More than the loss, it was the intent that hurt the Indian fans as the Three Lions openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales managed to chase down the target of 169 themselves in 16 overs.
However, the Indian team would return with a decent price amount and going by the Cricket Governing Body’s statement earlier, the Men in Blue would return with a whopping amount to their home country. For the unversed, the World Body earlier announced that each win in the Super 12 round would amount to $40,000 and with India winning 4 of their 5 matches in the round, they would get exactly $160,000 from the round.
The loser of the semi-finals will get $400,000 and in total, the Men in Blue will return with a huge price money of $560,000. And the winner of the summit clash will, however, receive a hefty sum of $1.6 million while the runner-up will receive half of the heavy amount.
England toil hard ahead of summit clash
With India and New Zealand bowing out of the ongoing 20-20 World Cup in the knockouts, England and Pakistan are toiling hard ahead of the finals to be played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground and it remains to see if the Men in Green would clinch the title after 13 years.
Ahead of the crucial match, Buttler said that his boys will consider it as yet another game and lauded the Pakistani pace battery, saying that a few of the current bowlers from the country would go on to become one of the greatest of all times.
“They have a fantastic team who have a very long history of producing excellent fast bowlers, and I see the team we are up against as no different. I’m sure by the end of their careers some of the players we are playing against will go down as some of the best Pakistan have produced. That’s a huge part of why they are in the final, so we expect a really tough challenge,” Buttler was quoted as saying.
