Indian Cricket Board source spoke to PTI about the workload management of Gujarat Titans duo Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill. They said, “Nothing is finalised yet and it will also depend on how Hardik is feeling after the one-dayers and T20s in the West Indies. There is travelling involved and only a short turnaround of three days before one flies from Florida to Dublin. With the World Cup being of primary importance, one has to factor in his workload. Let’s not forget he will be Rohit’s deputy in the World Cup.”
It should be emphasised that Pandya will probably start most of the games against West Indies, as the Men in Blue are scheduled to play a total of eight matches over the course of 18 days across three Caribbean nations and the USA.
Between July 27 and August 13, India plays three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and five Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) against the West Indies in Florida (U.S.), Tarouba (Trinidad), Georgetown (Guyana), as well as Bridgetown (Barbados). India will be participating in three T20 matches over the course of five days in Ireland. If Pandya travels from the USA to Ireland before arriving in Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup, he will have a heavy workload and travel fatigue.
