The former Pakistani pacer has been known to make a few outlandish comments and statements in recent times.

The Pakistan cricket team is all set to fly across the border to play the 2023 World Cup in India. On Friday the selectors announced the 15-man squad that is set to take part in the tournament. The team will be led by Babar Azam with a few injury concerns still hovering over the team.

Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Asif is in the news. This time for his statement on Babar Azam the current Pakistan skipper. The former Pakistani pacer has been known to make a few outlandish comments and statements in recent times.

Mohammad Asif had a while ago compared Babar Azam to the great Sachin Tendulkar. The former pace bowler had also lashed out at Virat Kohli over his batting form earlier. These latest comments though will not sit down well with Babar Azam fans in Pakistan.

Mohammad Asif makes controversial statement on Babar Azam 

Former Pakistani pace bowler, Mohammad Asif recently spoke on his social media channels. The 40–year–old made a massive statement on Babar Azam when he said “I can bowl a maiden over to Babar Azam in T20 Cricket even today, he cannot hit the ball if you bowl good deliveries to him”.

Mohammad Asif, shot to fame when he made his debut for Pakistan in 2005. His first big moment came in the 2006 Karachi test versus India where he bowled his team to win. Asif, along with Umar Gul was considered the future of Pakistan pace bowling.

In 2010, the career of Mohammad Asif came to an abrupt halt. Along with Mohammad Amir and former skipper Salman Butt, Asif was charged with spot-fixing. The bowler was banned for 7 years. In 2015, the Apex Cricket Body decided to revoke the ban with Asif making a comeback to domestic cricket.

Mohammad Asif was also heard complimenting the quality of batters of his era. The 40-year-old could be heard reminiscing the times he bowled to classy batters like AB De Villiers, Michael Clarke, and Kevin Petersen.

Mohammad Asif played 23 test matches for Pakistan picking 103 wickets with a best of 6/41. He had picked 7 five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket haul. In 38 ODI games, Asif had 46 wickets with a best of 3/28. Asif also played 11 T20 games picking 13 wickets with a best of 4/18.
