ODI World Cup 2023

‘Haan bhai feel aajayegi WC ki, le aao wapis’ – Fans react as former Australian wicketkeeper urges Indian team to bring Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni to be part of coaching staff

The ODI World Cup 2023 will kick off on

Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni

Adam Gilchrist, the former Australia wicket-keeper and batter, said that India might bring in legends like Sachin Tendulkar as well as MS Dhoni to train with them throughout the ODI Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2023. India will play Australia during a three-match ODI series, which is both team’s final bilateral assignment before the mega tournament.

Gilchrist added that before the World Cup, India should try to bring Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni. It would surely help the players if they both can be along with the Indian squad. When India hosts the prestigious competition in October and November, they will be vying for the nation’s third ODI World Cup title.

Adam Gilchrist spoke to Sportstar about this suggestion as he said, “I can’t claim to know what it is like to be an Indian player, playing in India. It’s always intriguing. If I would be in the Indian hierarchy, I would be tapping into guys like Sachin and MS to come in and spend time with the group if they are available, and pass on all their experience.”

Virat Kohli was not a significant contributor to India’s World Cup-winning squad in 2011. But he could use that experience to benefit the team this year according to Gilchrist. During the 2011 World Cup final, India defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets after Kohli’s 35 runs from 49 balls.

“The conditions created will play a significant part” : Adam Gilchrist

The former Deccan Chargers skipper added that, “Virat, obviously, was part of that team without being a feature member of the team at that time. I would be drawing on that experience of playing a home World Cup and try to find out how they did it. If you can keep that external noise quiet, it allows you to play your best cricket.”

Both Australia and India will undoubtedly compete for the World Cup title this year, according to the 51-year-old. With five victories, Australia holds the record for the most World Cups. India, which won the World Cup crown in 1983 and 2011 is currently tied alongside the West Indies for second place on the list of teams with the most titles.

The three-time World Cup winner added, “The venues and the conditions created will play a significant part in how strong a preparation this is for Australia and India. Generally looking at various other nations and what they are doing, I can’t think of a better preparation than what Australia and India have. They are the two teams that will be definitely vying for the title.”
