Former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has been cleaned up by Australia skipper Pat Cummins in the ongoing Day Two of Boxing Day Test. On the ongoing day, the home team, who started at 187/3, was bowled out for 318. Thanks to the terrific bowling effort from Pakistan bowlers, the visitors did well with the bat. After losing Imam-ul-Haq early, the likes of skipper Shan Massod and Abdullah Shafique put together 90 runs.

The latter was caught and bowled by Cummins. After this, former skipper Azam came out to bat. After scoring one run, he was clean bowled by two-time World Cup winner. The fans aren’t happy with the dismissal as they were expecting the right-hander to do well in the ongoing game. Meanwhile, talking about the game, after being 124/1 at one stage, the team has been reduced to 147/4 with Shan Masood being the latest to throw his wicket.

After scoring a fifty, his team needed him to get a big century with Saud Shakeel at the crease. Mohammad Rizwan has come out to bat and the team is trailing by 168 runs with 150/4 on the board. 24 overs are left in the day although it seems unlikely that all these overs will be bowled in the day.

Babar Azam’s failure with the bat continues

Meanwhile, in the first Test played in Perth last week, the Lahore-born managed the scores of 21 and 14 in the game. Pakistan lost by 360 runs, chasing 450 runs to win. With this, Azam’s batting failure in the ongoing series continues. Despite having a hundred and a fifty in Australia, he doesn’t have a great record Down Under. Apparently, after playing seven Tests, the 29-year-old has managed only 314 runs averaging 24.15 although he has a better record overall.

After playing 12 Tests, combined in the UAE and Pakistan, Azam has 835 runs with the best score of 196 runs. This innings came in the fourth innings of the Karachi Test in 2022, chasing a mammoth total of 502 runs.
