In the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023, umpiring level has been one of the biggest concerns for the Indian Cricket Board. The bizarre umpiring decisions have disappointed fans and cricket pundits, who weren’t expecting this level of umpiring in the world’s biggest cricketing league. However, on Tuesday, during the match between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans, a DRS decision shocked netizens.
Gujarat Titans clinched some early wickets as DC batters failed to capitalise on the opportunity. While batting first, DC were restricted to 23-5 in five overs as Mohammad Shami cliched four wickets in powerplay. Meanwhile, GT took a review against Manish Pandey for a caught behind. The third umpire first checked the ultra edge and then used ball tracking while the ball was pitching far outside of the off stump. The bizarre umpiring decision left fans in splits on social media.
Coming back to the game, DC posted a competitive total of 130-8 in 20 overs as youngster Aman Hakim Khan scored his maiden IPL half-century. The batter scored 51 runs off 44 balls with the help of three boundaries and as many sixes. He was well supported by Ripal Patel and Axar Patel who scored 23 and 27 runs, respectively.
Mohammed Shami’s dream spell ruptured DC
While batting first, DC got to a terrible start as Mohammed Shami clinched four wickets in the powerplay. He dismissed all top-order batters and clinched his career-best performance. He first dismissed Phil Salt for a golden duck in the very first over. Later, in the third over of the game, he removed Riley Rossouw for 8 runs off 6 balls.
In the fifth over of the powerplay, Shami clinched two wickets of Priyam Garg and Manish Pandey. Garg scored 10 runs off 14 balls, while Pandey scored just 1 runs off four deliveries. Shami has been phenomenal throughout the ongoing tournament. He has cliched 17 wickets in nine innings in the ongoing IPL.
Here is how fans react to the bizarre DRS:
You are being kind. Worst review in the history of the game.

1 review per inning is all so sufficient. Let time and resources be more optimally used.
