‘Won’t take abuses from anyone’ – Naveen-ul-Haq sends indirect message to Virat Kohli

It seems that Lucknow Super Giants and Afghanistan international, Naveen-ul-Haq isn’t ready to back down on his spat with Virat Kohli. In the reverse fixture between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challenger Bangalore, the duo had a verbal fight. It started at the end of the 16th over after the Mohammed Siraj vs Naveen battle, Kohli decided to stand for his player, Siraj.

However, at this point, the fire was seemingly doused by the umpires. Till the end of the game, things were going fine with RCB winning by 18 runs. However, after the game ended and the players of both teams shook hands, Haq took his hands of Virat. After a while, LSG skipper KL Rahul insisted on Haq settling the matters. However, the right-arm pacer refused to do so.

According to Indian Express, Naveen later told one of his LSG teammates: “I have come here to play in the IPL, not to take abuse from anyone.”

After the entire incident,  the match referee has taken note of the incident. While the likes of Virat and Gautam Gambhir have been fined 100 percent of their match fees, Haq has been slapped with 50 percent fine.

“Lucknow Super Giants’ Bowler Naveen-ul-Haq has been fined 50 per cent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.

“Mr Naveen-ul-Haq admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct,” reads the statement issued by IPL on their official website.

For the unversed, Kohli and Gambhir also had an verbal battle with each other over the incident with Haq.
