‘Ye hota hai Farewell’ – Fans react as David Warner guides Australia to stunning victory in 3rd Test against Pakistan in his final Test match

David Warner was clinical once again for Australia as he notched up another fifty in his final Test innings.

At the Sydney Cricket Ground, David Warner said goodbye to his Test career and received a standing ovation from his hometown fans. This occurred following Australia’s 3-0 series victory against Pakistan, which was won by eight wickets.

In Warner’s last Test, Australia required 130 to complete a series sweep after Pakistan was bowled out for 115. With visitors putting on the guard of honour and enthusiastic crowd applause, the opener took the pitch.

He pushed Australia on the verge of victory with an adventurous knock of 57 from 75 deliveries in his last Test innings until Sajid Khan removed him. After Warner was dismissed, the SCG crowd erupted into standing ovations as he made his way back to his dressing room ahead of what would be his final Test match.

Twice he reverse-swept Sajid towards the rope separating them. While amusing, the strategy to counter the tough outside off-stump was well-thought out. On 16, Warner nearly lost his wicket with a chopped on. However, even luck was with David Warner today.

Aamir Jamal, however, missed a really tough opportunity at mid-off off 25. Later, when he was 53, the opener narrowly avoided a close call. However, as Warner usually does, the ball did damage for the opposition as it left the bat in the middle part of the bat.

“I cherish every moment I get with them” : David Warner

David Warner spoke about the support of his family throughout his journey till now. He said, “Massive part of your life and without their support you can’t do what you do. I owe credit to my parents for giving me a beautiful and great upbringing. My brother Steve, I followed in his footsteps. And then Candice came along and sort of got me in line. We’ve had a beautiful family and I cherish every moment I get with them.”

The 37-year-old has stated that he is open to playing white-ball cricket again. But he is anticipated to retire from all formats of international cricket following the 2024 T20 World Cup.
