ODI World Cup 2023

‘Ye bhi agle match main maarenge 100 run’ – Fans react as Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj practice batting in nets

Team India are the only unbeaten nation left in the ODI World Cup 2023.

Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah

Prior to India’s ODI World Cup 2023 semi-final match, fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj concentrated on their batting. There were clips and photos of the pair according to Star Sports from Bengaluru on Wednesday, November 9. Since their victory in the 2011 ODI World Cup, India has not had a strong record in the knockout stages, with their batting mostly failing them.

India’s subpar top-order performance cost them dearly in the 2021 tournament, as they were eliminated in the Super 12 round. India was humiliated by England during the 2022 T20 World Cup semifinal following yet another lacklustre performance by the openers.

Nonetheless, the Indian squad has dominated the competition at bat due to skipper Rohit Sharma, who has assumed personal responsibility and produced some scorching starts. However, it appears that the Team India management is trying to cover all the bases. This is being done to get ready to put up a strong show in the event of an emergency.

For the whole 2023 World Cup, the Indian team seemed to be in complete control. With eight straight victories in the competition, Rohit Sharma’s team will be hoping to finish the group stage unbeaten. On November 12, India and the Netherlands will play their last group stage match at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Shubman Gill overtakes Babar Azam in the world rankings

In the world ODI batting Rankings, star batters Shubman Gill became only the fourth player from India to occupy the top spot, behind Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, and Sachin Tendulkar. Gill (830 rating points) overtook Babar Azam (824 rating points), whose more than two-year reign came to an end as a result of the 2023 World Cup’s lacklustre start.

Gill’s ascent and Babar’s decline occurred simultaneously leading to this result. Gill missed the first two matches due to dengue. However, since then, he has has given the Men in Blue amazing openings at the top of the order. The Gujarat Titans opener has amassed 219 runs in six innings during the competition so far.
