World Record Alert: Star Nepal spinner Sandeep Lamichhane becomes fastest bowler to clinch 100 wickets in ODIs

Previously, this record was held by Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan, who clinched 100 wickets in 44 games.

Star Nepal bowler, Sandeep Lamichhane has become the fastest player to clinch 100 wickets in One Day Internationals. He accomplished this achievement after dismissing Adil Shafiq in ACC Men’s Premier Cup match against Oman. He achieved the feat in just 42 games. Previously this record was held by Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan. He clinched 100 wickets in 44 games.

Earlier, in the game Nepal were asked to bat first and they scored a mammoth total of 310 runs after losing eight wickets in 50 overs. Allrounder, Kushal Malla and Sompal Kami scored a magnificent century and half-century respectively. Malla in his innings scored 108 runs off 64 balls with the help of nine fours and ten sixes.

Meanwhile, Kami scored 63 off 48 balls with the help of nine boundaries. Both Kami and Malla added 75 runs for the fifth wicket and helped Nepal to post a competitive total. Ayan Khan was a go-to bowler for Oman as he clinched two wickets. Apart from him six other bowlers also clinched a wicket each.

Mohammad Nadeem failed to win the game for Oman

Chasing 311 was not an easy task for visitors and getting off to a shaky start. Oman was restricted to 99-5 after Lamichhane and KC Karan struck early. After that, Sandeep Goud along with Mohammad Nadeem added 96 runs for the sixth wicket. They tried to pull out a victory but eventually failed as Dipendra Singh dismissed Goud for 46 runs off 56 balls.

Nadeem in his innings scored 65 runs off 84 balls with the help of one six and seven boundaries. Sandeep Lamichhane and Karan KC proved to be the go-to bowlers for Nepal as both clinched three wickets each. Apart from them, Dipendra Singh clinched two wickets. They helped Nepal to register a victory by a huge margin of 84 runs.
