‘Wolf leading his pack’ – Fans react as Jasprit Bumrah leads India in 2nd Test with magnificent five wicket haul against South Africa in Cape Town

India have achieved a red-ball series draw in the Rainbow Nation only once that way back in 2011 under MS Dhoni’s leadership

In the 2nd Test between South Africa and India, India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been phenomenal on day 2. Playing at an amazing bowling track in Newlands, the Indian seamer displayed amazing bowling skills as he took a five-wicket haul.

In a stellar display of bowling prowess, Bumrah emerged as the hero for India, claiming six crucial wickets to bundle out South Africa for 176 in the second Test. Bumrah’s exceptional performance restrained South Africa from posting substantial runs, setting the stage for India to chase a modest target of 79 runs for victory.

Alongside Jasprit Bumrah, Mukesh Kumar contributed with two wickets, while Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj each scalped one wicket, showcasing a collective bowling effort from the Indian side. However, Aiden Markram’s century stood out as a saving grace for the Proteas, providing them with a decent lead. Markram, in his inning, scored 106 runs off 103 balls with the help of 17 fours and two sixes.

Can India draw its first Test series in South Africa after a decade?

After a humiliating defeat in the first Test in Johannesburg, Rohit Sharma-led India will be keen to make a comeback in Cape Town. To draw the ongoing series, India will need 79 runs in the second inning to win the game at Newlands. The Indian team will also look at their batting line-up to get back on the line.

Considering India’s poor performance in the 1st inning—they lost their last 6 wickets without scoring a single run—team management will seek batters to apply themselves better. It’s worth noting that in the first inning, apart from skipper Rohit Sharma (39), Virat Kohli (46) and Shubman Gill (36) there was not a single batter in touch.

Notably, India has embarked on nine Test series tours to South Africa since 1992. However, they’ve achieved a red-ball series draw in the Rainbow Nation only once. The noteworthy accomplishment occurred during the 2010–11 tour under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. In that instance, the Indian team, led by Dhoni, secured a rare draw in the three-match Test series, finishing with an even scoreline of 1-1.

Here is how fans react to Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling performance:
