The Indian Cricket Board organized a successful closing ceremony ahead of the ongoing final match of the Indian T20 League 2022. This is the first time since 2017 when the closing ceremony was conducted in the cash-rich league. The event was graced by Bollywood actor and singer Ranvir Singh and A R Rahman respectively. It was hosted by former India head coach and now commentator, Ravi Shastri.
First up during the event, the Indian T20 League entered the Guinness Book of World Records with the largest jersey unveiled. The jersey was unveiled by the league chairman Brijesh Patel. The certificate of the World Record was presented to the Indian Cricket Board president Sourav Ganguly, secretary Jay Shah, and Patel. After this, both the teams, Gujarat and Rajasthan’s skippers, Hardik Pandya and Sanju Samson came on the stage and posed with the trophy.

Ranvir Singh set the stage on fire, dancing on ‘Vathi coming’ and also imitated the famous dialogue of KGF fil which is ‘violence-3’. The actor danced on the stage for about 15 minutes with him being accompanied by background dancers. After him, veteran singer AR Rahman entered the stage and sang the iconic ‘Maa Tujhe Salam’. He was accompanied by the likes of Mohit Chouhan, Neeti Mohan, Sujatha Mohan, Benny Dayal and the maestro’s son AR Ameen. He then finished his part with another iconic song ‘Jai Ho’.

After the ceremony, both the team captains came out in the middle for the toss. Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bat first with the decision being influenced by the big-match pressure. His team had a decent start as they had scored 44/1 in the powerplay, having lost the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Skipper Sanju Samson got out off Hardik Pandya in the ninth over of the innings. This triggered a collapse as the team went from 60/1 to 94/5 with Jos Buttler getting out on 39. Buttler was dismissed by Pandya which was a big blow to the 2008 winners. The team will now be hoping to reach a fighting total and put up a fight.
