The Indian team has clinched a thrilling victory in the first warm-up game against Australia. What was billed as a normal practice game turned out to be a highly exciting affair as India held its nerve and defended 186 against the home team.

The game came up with many thrilling moments in the dying embers of the game as the Men in Blue gave their all despite it being a warm-up match. Indian star cricketer Virat Kohli was at his best on the field as he jumped at every opportunity to give the team a win.

One moment that has been going viral on the internet came off in the last over of the match. Kohli fiddling at the long-on boundary line took a great one-handed catch to dismiss Pat Cummins in the dying embers of the game. The catch was taken on the third ball of the last over. With just seven needed off four, India needed to get Cummins out in order to have any chance of a win and that is what they did.

Here’s the video:

Mohammad Shami, bowling his very first over in the match, bowled an overpitched delivery to Cummins which he dug out at long-on. All seemed to think that the ball was sailing over the boundary line but Virat Kohli made a perfect jump to intercept the ball and took a sensational one-handed catch to dismiss the Australian bowler.

As for the game, the Men in Blue managed to defend 186/7 and won the match by six runs. India made the big total on the back of KL Rahul’s (57) and Suryakumar Yadav’s 50.

Australia meanwhile got off to a great start with both their openers Mitchell Marsh (35) and Aaron Finch (76) adding important runs in the run chase. Indian bowling, however, looked much more improved than in recent times and it held the nerve to thwart the challenge from the Australian batter.

Returnee Mohammad Shami took three wickets in the last over and defended 11 runs to hand India a confidence-inspiring win.
