After winning the toss, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto opted to bat first. Indian seamers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj made a promising start for their side, conceding only six runs in the initial four overs of the innings.
In the ninth over the match saw, Hardik Pandya sustaining an injury to which physio came in to check upon him. Despite the check-up, Hardik appeared uneasy, prompting Virat Kohli to step in and bowl the remaining three deliveries. During Litton Das’s strong shot, Hardik attempted to stop it with his right leg, resulting in visible discomfort that prevented him from continuing. Shakib Al Hasan miss out due to injury
