The much-awaited Women’s Big Bash League has brought some highly entertaining matches to the foray so far. Akin to the first five, the sixth match turned out to be a similarly high-intensity affair in the Australian domestic T20 League.
While the entirety of the match has been exciting, one moment that is getting increasingly viral on social media is a catch by Tess Flintoff. The noteworthy catch in the first ball of the 19th over when Kim Garth bowled an overpitched delivery to Erin Burns.
Batting on 22 off 16, the right-hand batter dug the ball out to long on. Fielding at the boundary line, Flintoff ran towards the ball as it was appearing to fall short. Running at full tilt, however, the Melbourne Stars players managed to catch the ball in on the back of a great fielding effort. The commentators as well as the spectators were mightily impressed by the fiddling masterclass by Flintoff.

As for the game, it was won by Sydney Sixers by 27 runs. They made 147/6 in the first innings and managed to get Melbourne Stars out at just 120/9 on the back of a great bowling performance as well as Tess Flintoff’s fielding masterclass. With this win, SS have increased their lead further at now have six points from three matches.
The tournament has seen five matches so far with seven teams having played at least one game. Sydney sixers with three wins out of three matches sit top of the table, having defeated Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat so far. Hobart Hurricanes meanwhile are second on the points table with one win out of one match. Melbourne Renegades and Brisbane Heat are the next two with one win each.
Sydney Sixers’ Ellyse Perry leads the scoring charts with 141 runs in three matches with an average of 47 and a strike rate of 115.57. She has hit two half-centuries so far. Sophie Ecclestone from the same team has taken the most number of wickets (6) in three matches so far. She has an impressive economy of 5.33.
