Suryakumar Yadav is getting better at his craft.

Suryakumar Yadav is turning out to be the biggest weapon in team India’s arsenal. His meteoric rise to the pinnacle of World cricket has shocked all cricket watchers. In just 34 matches, the right-hand batter has reached number two on Men’s T20I rankings.

The 32-year-old is turning out to be the X-factor that could win India the 20-20 World Cup in Australia. One of Suryakumar’s strengths is playing shorts all around the ground. His unique shots behind the wicket are the most challenging for the opposition as it makes them rethink their bowling and fielding strategy.

The Mumbai batter has been getting better at playing those kinds of shots which is even more worrisome for the opposition team. One such shot came off in India’s warm-up match against Australia on October 17th.

Plating against Marcus Stonis in the 16th over, Suryakumar hit a shot at the back of the wicket in a nonchalant fashion. The shot has since then been doing the rounds of Twitter with people calling him the player to watch out for.

Not only the fans, but Suryakumar’s incredible hitting has also impressed fellow cricketers. Australia bowler Kane Richardson who bowled to Suryakumar in India’s third warm-up match against Australia on October 17th has laid massive praise on the Indian batter.

One of the best in the world- Kane Richardson

“I think it was the first time he (Suryakumar Yadav) missed the middle of the bat against us. He’s one of the best batters in the world at the moment, so it was good taking him on,” Richardson told broadcasters in India- Australia warm match.

Earlier, former South African cricketer Dale Steyn had also levied Suryakumar with high praise. He had compared the Indian batter with AB de Villiers, one of the very best in the format.

“So, he’s an all-round player, and it’s in Australia, where the wickets are so good, they are batter friendly. You can also get away when a bowler tries to bowl full, you can place the ball left and you can use the pace of the ball really well, given some room. So, he is a wonderful 360-degree player, and reminds me of AB de Villiers. He could be India’s version of AB de Villiers and with the red-hot form that he’s in right now, he’s a player to definitely watch out for this World Cup,” Steyn said on Star Sports show ‘Cricket Live’.
