Suryakumar Yadav has established himself as a 360-degree player on the World Stage. His range of shots and manipulation of the field placement has given him tremendous success in recent times. He also has been very consistent in his performances. Surya once again displayed a great show in the T20I series final against Sri Lanka on Saturday.

The star batter scored his third international century, all of which have come in the shortest format, to take home the game and the series. He played a variety of shots in his innings, as per usual, and everyone was in awe of him.

However, one particular shot he played against Dilshan Madhushanka has become the talk of the town. The bowler bowled a full toss delivery wide outside the off stump. Suryakaumar got in the line of the ball and tried to clear it over the fine leg region, the shortest side of the boundary.

He did this and lost his balance, landing on his back on the ground. He had, however, already perfectly timed the ball and cleared the boundary for a six. A video of the same has been doing rounds on the internet ever since.

Here is Suryakumar Yadav’s excellent hit

When asked about some of the shots he played during the innings, the 32-year-old admitted that some of them were preplanned and that he wanted to hit the shorter side of the boundary. “Boundaries behind are like 50-60 meters, so I was targeting them. There are some shots that are pre-determined but you need to have other shots too so that if the bowler changes his plan, you can have an answer,” he said in the post-match presentation after receiving the Player of the Match award.

As for the game, India posted a massive total of 228/5 in the first innings. Surya and cameos by Shubman Gill (46 in 36 balls) and Rahul Tripathi (35 in 16 balls) helped them get to this total. After that, the bowlers wreaked havoc on the Lankan batters, restricting them to a score of 137 in under 17 overs to take home a 91-run win.
