Makhaya Ntini and Ravichandran Ashwin

Team India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin found himself speechless earlier today. This happened when former speedster Makhaya Ntini welcomed CSK supporters with a Bollywood song called “Kabhi Kabhi.” During the recently finished South African trip, Ashwin met Ntini and asked the former cricket player to greet the CSK supporters in a clip that has gone viral on social media.

After shaking hands, the batsman from Tamil Nadu had no comments when Nitini attempted to mimic a scenario in a South Indian film by performing a Bollywood song. While Ashwin and Ntini were both once members of the Chennai Super Kings, the former participated during the IPL just for its first season. At thirty, he took seven wickets in nine IPL appearances in 2008. He was a key part of the franchise as the side reached their maiden IPL final.

In the second and last Test, held on Thursday, January 4, at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town, Team India secured a momentous victory over South Africa. With a contest lasting just 642 balls, this feat not only represented India’s first victory at the location but also created an all-new mark for what was the shortest Test encounter in cricket history.

In this the second Test, the visiting squad substituted Shardul Thakur for Mukesh Kumar and Ravindra Jadeja replacing Ravichandran Ashwin in a calculated move. Even though Ashwin was out, he still entertained fans off the pitch.

Ravichandran Ashwin nominated for Major Award!

In other news, Ashwin is a contender for the 2023 Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year title. Of the four candidates, the Chennai-born spinner is the only cricketer from India. The majority of the list is made up of Australian players who won the World Test Championship Final. In addition to Ashwin, the list also includes Joe Root, Travis Head, and Usman Khawaja.

Ashwin’s outstanding 2023 campaign included 41 wickets after seven Test matches, including a memorable 35 wicket haul from four matches in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Ashwin was the winner of the coveted prize in 2016, and this is his third nomination for it.
