The ongoing season of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) is in its full flow but the tournament is about to get finished as only a few games are left before its playoffs. However, on Saturday, August 12, two games took place. In the first clash, B-Love Kandy defeated the defending champions Jaffna Kings while in the second match, Dambulla Aura beat Colombo Strikers by 50 runs.
Meanwhile, a serious incident took place in the first match when B-Love Kandy were fielding in the 2nd innings. During the play, a snake entered the ground and came close to the place where Isuru Udana was fielding. Udana wasn’t aware of the snake and went too close to it. However, fortunately, he somehow saw the snake and had a narrow escape. The video of the incident went viral on social media.

Questions on Sri Lankan Cricket Board
However, this is not the first time that a snake has interrupted the play as the 2nd game of the league was halted for a while when a snake intruded on the playing surface during the contest between Aura and Galle Titans. But this put a big question on the security arrangements by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board.
Sri Lanka will also be hosting some matches in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 as they are the co-host for the tournament along with Pakistan. But the participating teams will surely be in tension thinking about the safety of their players as there is a high chance that any of these snakes can be harmful to them as they can be venomous as well.
It’d be interesting to see how the stadium workers will work on the safety measures before the tournament starts. Security is also very important for the players as all of them will be competing in the ODI World Cup in October.
