The final of the Asia Cup 2022 ended with Pakistan receiving a hammering at the hands of Sri Lanka, who clinched their 6th Asia Cup title on Sunday. Following Pakistan’s loss, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB) Ramiz Raja lashed out at an Indian journalist outside the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
After the game, Raza was seen interacting with the media outside the stadium. During the interaction, an Indian journalist named Rohit Juglan asked him what message would he give to Pakistan fans who are sad after the loss in the final. Raza replied to the question and said ‘that you must be from India, you would be very happy after Pakistan’s loss.’
After his reply, Raza who seemed irked by the question was seen snatching the phone of the Indian journalist but returned it right away. The video of the entire incident has gone viral on the internet. The journalist Rohit Juglan took to Twitter and expressed his disappointment with the treatment meted out to him by the PCB chief.
Juglan wrote, “Was my question wrong? Are Pakistan fans not unhappy? It was very wrong As chairman of a board, you shouldn’t have snatched my phone. That’s not right Mr. Chairman, taking my phone was not right.”

Coming back to the match, Sri Lanka were in a spot of bother after being put in to bat by Babar Azam. They were reeling at 58/5 after 8.5 overs as Pakistan smelled their third Asia Cup title victory. However, a heroic knock under pressure by Bhanuka Rajapaksa took his team to a defendable total of 170 at the end of their innings. Rajapaksa remained unbeaten on 71 off 45 balls.
Sri Lanka began their defence in the worst-possible manner as seamer Dilshan Madushanka bowled a no ball, three wides and another wide which went away for four byes, before bowling the first legal ball of the innings. However, Dasun Shanaka’s men recovered from the bizarre start and picked two wickets off consecutive deliveries. A partnership between Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed stabilized the Pakistan’s innings but they couldn’t keep up with the required run rate.
As a result, they both fell quickly trying to score some big shots and Sri Lanka tightened their grip on the game. Sri Lanka picked up the last wicket on the final ball of the innings and clinched their sixth Asia Cup title.
