India and Bangladesh are competing against each other in the first Test at Chittagong that kicked off on December 14, Wednesday and on Day 4 of the contest, on Saturday, the Bangla Tigers remained wicketless at the end of the first session, although one could argue that they lost post that.

Openers Najmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hasan got off to a fiery start and eventually put on over a 100-run partnership for the first wicket. However, it was not an easy stay for Shanto at the crease as the Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj kept having a banter with the batter.

During the 33rd over from Siraj, the right-arm pacer tried to sledge Shanto, by staring at the batter, which many felt was an unwanted act from the Indian pacer while others went on to back him for his stupendous intent when the pitch did almost nothing for the pacers. However, Shanto refused to react to the unwanted act from Siraj and stared at him right away without uttering a word.

Can India win first Test at Chittagong?

As things stand, the Bangla Tigers batters were on top nick during Day 4 of the Test, chasing a target of 513. At the end of 60 overs, Bangladesh were reeling at 141/2 with Hasan and Litton Das at the crease, with the former remaining unbeaten at 66, requiring 372 more runs to clinch the win.

Day 3 turned out to be a great one for India as they managed to put on a great target on the board on the back of centuries from Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman  Gill. Opening up on his maiden Test hundred, Gill said that he was well aware of the time that he had to attack the pacers and make a move on in the game.

“I personally thought it (maiden Test century) was long time coming for me. Today it was all about getting the difficult situation out of the way. There weren’t any different thoughts (while batting in the 90s). For me, it was about how to play according to the field and then be able to score runs. It was very instinctive (to hit a couple of boundaries and get to the milestone). When the bowler came round the wicket, there was gap between third man and point,” Gill was quoted as saying.
