Imran Tahir, the South African cricketer, is known for his energetic and exuberant celebrations on the field. He recently added a new one to his repertoire, the “Siuu” celebration, after taking a wicket. The celebration, which involves Tahir making a circular motion with his finger near his ear, has quickly become a fan favourite.
‘Siuu’ celebration was made famous by Cristiano Ronaldo when he was playing at Real Madrid. At peak of his form, Ronaldo crushed opponents and did that celebration after scoring a goal. ‘Siuu’ originates from ‘si’ which means ‘yes’. After being out of form at Manchester United, the Real Madrid legend stopped doing it.
Tahir was first seen doing this celebration when he took the wicket of Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer in an India vs South Africa match. After the dismissal, Tahir rushed towards the boundary line and did the “Siuu” celebration. The crowd erupted in cheers as Tahir’s teammates joined in the celebration. The moment was captured by the cameras and quickly went viral on social media platforms.
Since then, Tahir has been seen doing the “Siuu” celebration after every wicket he takes. He did the celebration once against at the ILT20 match between MI Emirates and Sharjah Warriors. A particular celebration that is doing the rounds of the internet took place when Tahir dismissed the Warriors’ batter, Mohammad Nabi. Tahir ended the match having taken 3 wickets in 4 overs fetching a 49 run win for the MI Emirates.
