In the deciding game of the ODI series involving India and Bangladesh women’s cricket teams in Dhaka, Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian skipper, burst into rage after being given out during the team’s run-chase.
The event occurred in the 34th over of India’s innings, when Harmanpreet tried a sweep against spinner Nahida Akter. She didn’t seem to have any contact with the ball when it sailed off her pads and towards slip. The fielder at slip ultimately gathered the ball, but before the catch, Akter boldly pleaded for a leg-before, when the umpire raised his finger.
The Indian captain, on the other hand, was enraged by the judgement and immediately struck the stumps using her bat, indicating that a bat was involved. Harmanpreet continued to protest with the umpire as she headed back to the pavilion.
The dismissal of India’s skipper prompted a batting collapse, as Harleen Deol who scored a valuable 77 was quickly dismissed, and India lost the remaining five wickets in 34 runs. Meghna Singh, the no.11 batsman, nicked the third delivery of the last over for a straightforward grab to wicketkeeper Nigar Sultana, tying the game.
Jemimah Rodrigues, who remained at the crease throughout the collapse, finished unbeaten with 33 from 45 balls.

Fargana Hoque’s amazing innings of 107 earlier in the game drove Bangladesh towards 225/4 in 50 overs. Sneh Rana was India’s best bowler, finishing with statistics of 2/45 in 10 overs.
Smriti Mandhana who notched up a crucial 59 along with Harleen put on a 107-run stand in the chase after Shafali Verma as well as Yastika Bhatia got out at the beginning of the innings. Mandhana’s dismissal sent Harmanpreet to the crease, where she looked powerful until she was dismissed in the 34th over.
The match ended in a tie and that also meant that the series was level and the trophy had to be shared after both racked up one win each in the series. Bangladesh team were overjoyed by the final wicket as they know they have scrapped a tie from a losing position.
