India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur wasn’t happy with the umpiring after India tied the third ODI against Bangladesh. Batting first, the home team, Bangladesh amassed 225/4 at the end of the first innings. Fargana Hoque (107) and Shamina Sultana (52) helped the team reach this total. In reply, India was 191/4 and looked like winning the game easily. However, the visitors lost the last six wickets for 34 runs.

This led to the game ending in a tie. With this, the three-match series ended in a tie 1-1. After the game, India skipper Kaur questioned the level of umpiring. Notably, two howler decisions went against the Women In Blue. In the post-match presentation, the right-hander said that umpiring was poor and a lot can be learned from this game.

“A lot of learning from this game,” Harmanpreet said at the presentation ceremony. “Even apart from the cricket, the type of umpiring that was happening there, we were very surprised. The next time whenever we are coming to Bangladesh, we’ll have to make sure we have to deal with this kind of umpiring and accordingly, we’ll have to prepare ourselves.”

Apart from this, during the trophy ceremony, the Mumbai Indians skipper went to ask the Bangladesh team to call the umpires for the same. She said that the umpires helped the team level the series.

As a player, Harmanpreet Kaur could have shown better manners: Nigar Sultana

In reply to this unfortunate incident, Nigar Sultana said that the India skipper could have behaved better after the game.

“It is totally her problem. I have nothing to do with it,” Nigar said in the press conference when asked about the incident. “As a player, she could have shown better manners. I can’t tell you what happened, but it didn’t feel right to be there [for the photograph] with my team. It wasn’t the right environment. That’s why we went back. Cricket is a game of discipline and respect.”
