Watch: ‘Flying’ Jos Buttler takes stunning catch to dismiss Marnus Labuschagne

England and Australia locked horns in the first ODI on Thursday at Adelaide Oval.

Jos Buttler takes stunning catch to dismiss Marnus Labuschagne

Adelaide Oval hosted the first match of the three-match ODI series between Pat Cummins’ Australia and Jos Buttler’s England on November 17, Thursday and the match turned out to be a one-sided affair with the Kangaroos coming out on top.

While it was Dawid Malan who stood up in the first innings with his 134, David Warner, Australia’s prime batter, rose to the occasion while chasing a target of 288 and scored a fighting 86 to help Australia hunt down the target with ease.

During Australia’s chase, England’s skipper Buttler produced a stunner to dismiss the Kangaroos’ star batter Marnus Labuschagne in the 31st over off David Willey. While the batter contributed only 4 runs to Australia’s scoreboard, it was Buttler’s catch that became the talk of the moment.

There’s no point saying we’ll be at our best: Jos Buttler

As things stand, the concern regarding the series has been England players’ fatigue, as they played the finals of the recently concluded 20-20 World Cup 2022 only 4 days ago. Buttler, who commented on the same, said that the Three Lions might not be at their very best for the ODI series against Cummins’ men.

“It’s tough, absolutely, but we just get on with it. It is a fast turnaround. There’s no point hiding away that it will be a challenge for us having had such a high a few days ago,” Buttler was quoted as saying prior to the start of the first match.

“We just go into it trying to really enjoy the games and play with lots of freedom, not that we need any excuse to do that. Once you get over the line and you’re playing against Australia, I’m sure those competitive juices will get going,” said England’s skipper further.

“There’s fresh energy, some fantastic players coming in want to stamp their mark. There’s such depth in talent in the white-ball game, it’s tough to get in the final XI and good players miss out. It’s always the mark of a good team when good players are missing,” he added.
