WATCH: Fans chant ‘RCB…RCB…’ during match between Australia and Pakistan in ODI World Cup 2023

RCB

RCB is one of the most popular franchises in cricket. The Bengaluru-based franchise has a lot of fans despite not winning any cup in the Indian Premier League. Proof of that is how the fans cheer the team even without them playing. In the ongoing ODI World Cup, M Chinnaswamy Stadium is hosting its first match of the tournament between Australia and Pakistan.

During the match, the fans were seen chanting ‘RCB…RCB…’ which showed the craze for the franchise among the fans. Australia had two players in the match who were part of the RCB team in the IPL 2023. Glenn Maxwell and Josh Hazlewood were a part of RCB in the IPL 2023. Maxwell, in particular, was very good for RCB in the season. Unfortunately, the big show could not deliver for Australia.

In the match against Pakistan, Maxwell disappointed the fans by getting dismissed for a golden duck. Shaheen bowled a short-length delivery to Maxwell. The right-handed batter tried to loft it over the mid-wicket region. But the timing was not good enough to fetch maximum runs for Maxwell. Instead, it went straight to the fielder stationed at mid-off region.

Australia in a dominating position against Pakistan

Despite Maxwell and other batters not performing well, Australia got a fantastic total on the board, thanks to a marathon opening partnership from the opening duo of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh. The duo scored a hundred each and punished the Pakistan bowlers. Pakistan’s fielding let down the efforts of the bowlers, who were pretty good on a flat surface. Shaheen ended up claiming a 5-wicket haul for Pakistan.

But it was the opening duo of Australia that dominated the game all the way. Marsh, the birthday boy, scored a memorable hundred. On the other hand, Warner scored a big hundred and took the attack on the opposition. After being dropped early in the innings, Warner went on to score 163 runs in 124 balls, which included 14 fours and 9 sixes. The knock of Warner helped Australia to score 367 runs in their 50 overs.
