A record-breaking first day in Pakistan vs England 1st Test
Coming back to the match, the Test has been a run-fest so far with several batting records broken on Day 1. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, England posted a monumental 657 in 101 overs. The three-lions were 506/4 at Stumps on Day 1 which is a world record Day 1 score in the history of Test cricket. There were four centurions in the English team with all of them reaching the landmark on the first day itself, which is also a record.
Harry Brook, who scored a magnificent 153 off just 116, was the top scorer for England. During the course of his innings, Brook smashed six consecutive fours in an over against Saud Shakeel and became the fifth batter in the history of Tests to achieve the feat.
In reply to England’s total, Pakistan got off to a rollicking start in their innings with openers Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq adding 225 runs for the first wicket. Both openers reached their respective hundreds in the first session of Day 3. Pakistan were 298/3 after the first session on Day 3 with Jack Leach picking up two wickets while debutant Will Jacks picked up one wicket.
