England is currently touring Pakistan for a historic Test series after a gap of 17 years. Fans were ecstatic that one of the biggest Test nations would visit Pakistan after such a long time. However, they would have been disappointed with the proceedings on day one of the first match at the Rawalpindi Stadium.

The flat wicket allowed the English batters to score freely in the first innings, where they ended up getting 506 runs on day one. While the Pakistan bowlers did not give the fans much to cheer about, there was some source of entertainment in the form of a spectator.

A saree-clad fan was seen dancing in a nearby building. She showcased her dance moves while Ollie Pope and former English captain Joe Root batted in the middle. Even the commentator called it a “beautiful scene” on air.

As for the match, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett were determined to get quick runs in the first session of the first day. They wasted no time getting started, hitting early boundaries in the match. On the other hand, Pakistan bowlers failed to put any pressure on the batters early in the day.

Because there was no bounce, swing, turn, or drift, Crawley (122 runs in 111 balls) and Duckett (107 runs in 110 balls) were able to get quick runs in. Following their quick wickets, other English batters picked up where they left off. While Root was unable to contribute much, Ollie Pope and Harry Brook took charge of the innings.

The two batted their way through the day’s second session, giving England complete control of the match. Pope (108 runs in 104 balls) reached his century shortly after the break but was quickly dismissed. Brook, on the other hand, maintained his lead by hitting the day’s only two sixes. He too completed his century as he was joined by captain Ben Stokes, just as the umpires were forced to call it a day due to poor lighting.
