Bismah Maroof and her adorable daughter are in the news once again. On March 6, when India beat their arch-rivals Pakistan, Maroof was spending some time with her child. The Indian players decided to join the Pakistan skipper and had a fun time with the mother-daughter duo. The videos and images of that incident went on social media quickly with former cricketers and media personnel praising the players for displaying the spirit of the game.
Once again, on March 8, when Pakistan was playing Australia, the left-hander scored a fighting fifty. She went to bring out a cradle celebration after completing her fifty. The visuals went viral in no time.

Talking about the game, Australia skipper Meg Lanning won the toss and elected to field first. The Women In Green had a horrendous start as the team lost four wickets for 44 runs. Maroof (78*) and and Aliya Riaz (53) stitched a partnership of 99 runs before the latter was trapped lbw by Nicola Carey. The team could only muster 190/6 in 50 overs. In reply, the Women In Yellow chased down the target in 34.4 overs, thanks to Alyssa Healy (72) and useful contributions from Rachel Haynes (34), Lanning (35), Ellyse Perry (26*), and Beth Mooney (23*).
After the game, Pakistan skipper was critical of her team’s performances in all departments of the game.
“We gave too many wickets away early on. We got a decent total, but we couldn’t stop them. We could have been better in the field, we dropped too many catches. In the meeting we had discussed that someone from the top order had to bat deep. It was a special performance with my daughter around, I had to make it count. We need to put up a good total, so that the bowlers get a chance to defend,†said the Pakistan skipper after the game.
