Australian wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy made a wonderful display of sportsmanship in the match against Bangladesh in the Women’s World Cup 2022. The two teams were facing off in the 25th match of the tournament at the Basin Reserve in Wellington.
Bangladesh was invited to bat first after Australia won the toss. Bangladesh put up a total of 135 runs for Australia to chase. Australia chased down the target easily with five wickets in hand. Beth Mooney won the Player of the Match award for her 66 runs knock. Mooney along with Annabel Sutherland (26 off 39) steadied the Australian ship when they were struggling at 70 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.

While Bangladesh was batting, an interesting event was witnessed by the spectators. After the drinks break in the Bangladeshi innings, the umpires were not seen on the field. So, the Australian wicket-keeper Alyssa Healy filled in for the umpire. Healy assisted the Bangladeshi batter to take guard at the striker’s end.
The video went viral soon and the fans praised Healy. They commented on the video lauding Healy’s warm gesture toward the opposition. The commentators also praised her gesture.
With this victory, Australia continued their winning run. They have won all their seven fixtures in the tournament till now. They are at the top of the point’s table. Meanwhile, Bangladesh with only one win in their six matches are at second last position in the table, just ahead of Pakistan.
