Legendary Pakistan cricketer, Wasim Akram feels that the dressing room conversations which happen before and after the game shouldn’t be made public. In an interaction with A Sports, Akram advised Pakistan skipper Babar Azam to deny the social media personnel to upload videos of what goes inside the dressing room following the game.
“If I was Babar, I would get hold of that guy who is making a video. Sometimes, certain things are personal. I am all for social media, players interacting with their fans and everything. But I have not seen any other team do it in this World Cup? So yeah, the urge to get extra numbers (followers, likes), cut it down. This is too much,” Akram said on A-Sports
“There are recordings taking place all the time. Imagine if I am sitting and not knowing that someone is recording – a message that I want to give my team. Just tell him, ‘Guys, relax for two days. Do it some other place but not the dressing room.”
Meanwhile, Pakistan have reached the knockout stage of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. The Men in Green will be playing the first semi-final match against New Zealand on 9th November 2022 at Sydney Cricket Ground. In their last match against Bangladesh, the openers, Babar Azam and M Rizwan, once again, had a forgettable outing with the bat but young Mohammad Haris played a vital 18-ball 31 to help his team chase down the score, eventually.
Following the win, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam advised Harris to finish the game as well once gets set during a chase.
“Haris, you have played brilliantly. But these small things will give you confidence, for example, when you finish a game, your level will be different. When the match is in hands, make sure you don’t lose a wicket. Our seniors told me that when you finish a match, your confidence level goes up, wherever you play,” Babar said in the post-match dressing room video.
