England registered a 10-wicket victory against India in the semi-finals of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 to pave their way into the finals. The English team completely annihilate the Indian team in the encounter in all the departments. On the other hand, the Men in Blue were unable to create any chances in the game.
Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to bat first in the crucial encounter at the Adelaide Oval. This strategy worked well for them, as they got the first blood with KL Rahul’s dismissal in the second over. Rohit Sharma followed with a few boundaries, but he appeared rusty throughout his innings. Virat Kohli, meanwhile, was trying to stabilize the innings.
Rohit’s misfortunes continued when he was dismissed in the ninth over for a team score of 56. Suryakumar Yadav, who had been in good form, also departed early without adding much to the scoreboard. Hardik Pandya then joined Virat in the middle and resurrected the batting.
Virat Kohli continued to bat steadily, while Pandya wreaked havoc in the middle. The star all-rounder kept the boundaries in check, and Virat completed his fourth half-century of the tournament. Pandya (63 runs in 33 balls) did not stop after the former Indian captain’s dismissal. He then hit a quick half-century to help India reach a respectable total of 168/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
England, on the other hand, got off to a fast start, with Jos Buttler and Alex Hales exploding early on. Throughout the innings, the two batted aggressively to put their team in control. India, meanwhile, did not put any pressure on the batters.
The batting duo kept the scoring rate under control and added 63 runs in the powerplay. Hales took charge, to begin with, but Buttler joined the party soon enough. Each scored a half-century to take the team through. India only had one chance to get a wicket in the 14th over, but Suryakumar Yadav dropped the catch.
In the end, Buttler (80 runs in 49 balls) and Hales (86 runs in 47 balls) comfortably guided the team to a 10-wicket victory with four overs to spare. They will now play against Pakistan in the finals on the 13th of November at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
