On Friday, September 1 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, bowler Haris Rauf from Pakistan and Virat Kohli met during a practise session. The third game of the 2023 Asia Cup will take place at the same location on Saturday and feature India and Pakistan.
On the night before the intense game, players from both teams worked out under the lights. Kohli and Rauf happened to cross paths during the practise. The two gave each other a warm embrace and laughed heartily. When they last faced off on the pitch at the renowned Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) last year, it was a fierce match.
Virat Kohli orchestrated an incredible comeback for India during the 2022 T20 World Cup encounter on October 23 by smashing two sixes from the final two deliveries of the 19th over played by Haris Rauf. Before the first two deliveries, India required 28 runs off eight deliveries. Men in Blue continued to win the game by capitalising on the momentum.

Following their famous on-field confrontation, Virat Kohli as well as Haris Rauf bonded on Friday before their Asia Cup 2023 matchup. The encounter between Virat Kohli along with Haris Rauf inside the stadium was also caught on camera. The Pakistani bouncer appeared to be thinking back to the memorable sixes Kohli smashed against him during the T20 World Cup in Australia the previous year.
Haris Rauf was seen speaking to the Indian batting Maestro Virat Kohli ahead of their clash today at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. He said, “Jidhar se guzarta hu na, Kohli-Kohli hota hai (Wherever I go, I hear your name).”
There’s a chance that both Pakistan and India would play each other three times at the 2023 Asia Cup. It would be three times more entertaining if both sides succeed in reaching Super 4 and the final before their match on October 14 at the ODI World Cup 2023 in Ahmedabad.
