‘Umpire ne mazak karna shuru kar diya na to pata lagega’ – Twitter reacts to Rohit Sharma’s quirky DRS signal during Day 2 of WTC final

Rohit Sharma WTC

The ongoing India vs Australia WTC final has been going on wherein the Pat Cummins-led side seem to have taken an edge. After the end of 120 overs, Australia are 468/9 with Pat Cummins and Scott Boland at the crease.

There has been a lot going on during the game. Travis Head made a brilliant century and so did Steve Smith. These two batters took Australia to a very good total while Indian bowlers failed to contain the Aussie batting lineup.

Another moment that has been trending on social media is Rohit Sharma’s DRS-taking antics. In one instance Sharma is seen taking DRS but he doesn’t properly make the T required for the correct signalling. The India captain did this just to make sure the umpire does not take the DRS call and bring some entertainment to the game.

Soon after this, his peculiar DRS-taking gesture has gone viral on social media, with fans confused as to what is the actual signalling gesture for DRS.

Here’s how Twitter reacted:

Australia in driver’s seat

As for the match, Australia are heading towards a monumental total on the back of brilliant centuries from Steve Smith (121) and Travis Head (163). Their first inning ended at 469 on Day 2. Mohammed Siraj was the pick of the bowlers from India side as he took 4 wickets in his 28.3 over spell.

Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur took 2 wickets each with Ravindra Jadeja taking on as well. India would hope for a good reply to Australia’s first mining score and get into the game. This is India’s second WTC final in as many years.

In the first WTC final that was against New Zealand, India lost the match by 8 wickets to the Kane Williamson-led side. Rohit Sharma and co would be hoping to get this win and bring happiness to millions of Indian cricket fans.
