Bangladesh is taking on Pakistan in a do-or-die game at the Adelaide Oval. A win here would take them through to the knockout stages of the tournament. The team led by Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and decided to bat first. The team lost a few wickets during the game, but the captain’s wicket was the most talked about.

Shadab Khan trapped Shakib LBW in front of the stumps on the fifth ball of the 11th over, and he was ruled out. The batter wasted no time to take the DRS as he edged the ball before it hit his pads. The umpire did not overturn the on-field decision because he believed the bat struck the ground rather than the ball. It was clear that this was not the case, which upset and enraged the fans.

As for the game, Najmul Hossain Shanto played a steady knock of 54 runs in 48 balls. Soumya Sarkar and Afif Hossain also played short cameos but could get the team in a good position. The Bangla Tigers ended with a team score of 127/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Shaheen Shah Afridi was in supreme form with the ball for Pakistan in the first innings. He took a four-wicket haul and conceded just 22 runs in his four-over spell. Shadab Khan also took two wickets in the game, while Haris Rauf and Iftikhar Ahmed took one each.

In the meantime, when asked about the third umpire’s decision on Shakib’s wicket in the mid-match interview, Shadab Khan said, “Umpires gave it out, so it’s out”

On the other hand, fans were furious with the third umpire’s lack of judgement. Many accused the umpire of robbing Shakib of an opportunity to go big in the crucial game, while others said it demoralized the other players as well.  “Big moment in the match. Looked like Shakib Al Hasan edged it. The umpiring in this tournament hasn’t been great,” Saj Sadiq, a Pakistani journalist tweeted.
