Rajasthan started their campaign in the Indian T20 League with a 61-run victory over a hapless Hyderabad side. Rajasthan fired on all cylinders, as the Kane Williamson-led outfit was hammered. Chasing a colossal target of 211 for victory, the Hyderabad side showed no intent. The ‘Orange Army’ struggled to get going, losing wickets at regular intervals, and in the end, could just muster a total of 149/7.
Aiden Markram top-scored for the Hyderabad side with 57 off 41 deliveries. Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of the bowlers for Rajasthan and scalped three wickets in his four overs. The Rajasthan side batted first and posted a colossal total of 210/6 on the board. The Rajasthan batters were in the mood for annihilation. The openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler put on a superb stand of 58 runs off 6.1 overs for the opening wicket.
And from there, skipper Sanju Samson just carried on. The right-handed batting behemoth scored a blistering 55 at a strike rate in excess of 200 and carted the opposition bowlers all around the park. He received excellent support from Devdutt Padikkal who butchered a 29-ball 41. Shimron Hetmyer provided the final fireworks, scoring a 13-ball 32.
