Before his final Test, Pakistan captain Shan Masood expressed amazement that David Warner had lost his Baggy Green, highlighting the significance of holding a Test cap for every cricket player. The last ever Test of Warner’s remarkable career will be the New Year’s Test against Pakistan in Sydney, which begins tomorrow. The southpaw disclosed prior to the match that he lost his Test cap during a Melbourne to Sydney journey.
Speaking to the media on the eve of the SCG Test, Masood asked the Australian government for the most talented investigators to help conduct a nationwide search in order to support Warner in finding his Baggy Green.
Shan Masood said in the press conference that, “There should be a country-wide search right now from the Australian Government. We might need the best of detectives to get that back. He’s been a great ambassador, and he deserves every bit of respect, every bit of celebration for his unbelievable career.”
The Pakistan team skipper ahead of the first Test also pleaded that David Warner must find his cap since it’s an important part for any player. He said, “I hope they find it. It’s the most precious thing for any cricketer, and I hope David Warner gets it back.”
“I would love to have back in my hands” : David Warner
David Warner posted a heartwarming video requesting and informing about his lost Baggy Green. He said, “Unfortunately, someone has taken my backpack out of my actual luggage, which had my backpack and my girls’ presents in there. Inside this backpack was my Baggy Greens. That is sentimental to me, it’s something I would love to have back in my hands, walking out there come this week.”
The Delhi Capitals opener added, “If it’s the backpack that you really wanted, I have a spare one here. You won’t get into trouble, just get in touch with Cricket Australia or me. I’m happy to give this to you if you return my Baggy Green.”

It's like saying that the Baggy green is not just a piece of cloth or a hat, but a national treasure that deserves the utmost respect and protection.
And of course, the idea of launching a nationwide search with the best detectives on the case is a bit of an exaggeration, but it…— Sonam Murarkar (@murarkar_sonam) January 2, 2024
