Over the years, the Chennai franchise in the Indian T20 league has been the breeding ground for new Indian talents. The franchise has always backed its  players and never has judged the player on the back of one or two failures. Besides the presence of MS Dhoni and his valuable advice has been of great importance to many a young player on the team.
Chennai has always looked for unique talent and one such find for the franchise is the Mumbai-based off-spinner Salman Khan. He is a part of the team as a net bowler in the 15th edition of the Indian T20 League. In a recent conversation, the young cricketer has revealed that he cherishes the opportunity of being a part of the franchise.
On how he got the rare chance of being a man in yellow, Salman told to Indian Express – “One day, I got a call from a Chennai official asking me whether I can join as a net bowler for this season. Later, I got to know my name was recommended by Tushar Deshpande. I was excited because I will get a chance to learn, otherwise, I would be just playing club cricket.â€
He also talked about his conversion to the former Chennai skipper and the heart of the team, MS Dhoni. “I spoke to Mahi bhai and Jadeja. I want to learn from them, these two months might change my life. I asked Mahi bhai about my bowling. He said – ‘Salman, off-spinner ko T20 mein sab maarne ko hi dekhte hai, so thoda dimag se dalne ka, jyada sochne ka.’ He said he will speak to me after a few games. The franchise is treating us like everyone else. We are getting the same treatment like everyone else. The environment is superbâ€- said Salman.
It is not an uncommon thing that they have guided their net bowlers into the main squad. The latest example is Mukesh Choudhary, who was a net bowler for the men in yellow in 2021 and is a part of the main squad this season. If Salman Khan can impress his skipper Ravindra Jadeja and the brain of Chennai, MS Dhoni, there are possibilities that he might end up being a part of the main squad next season.
