Triple H is one of the most successful wrestlers in the WWE. His achievements in the sport speak for themselves. What most people know is about the success and his career in front of the camera, but there are many things that viewers have no idea about when it comes to Triple H.
Triple H, whose actual name is Paul Michael Levesque, has recently given an interview to BT Sport in which he talked about his life and his heart issue in detail. He talks about how his doctor called him suddenly and asked him to check in to a hospital as soon as possible.
“The truth is I had a genetic heart issue that led to me having a blockage. The rest of my heart was pristine and clean. I had a blockage in my main artery that they call ‘windowmaker’. 99%!”
The 53-year-old explained in the video how he had to go through an extensive operation that added a defibrillator to his heart.
Here’s the video:
“I had viral pneumonia. My lungs were inflamed. As the next couple of days went on, when I got home it got increasingly worse. My wife saw some blood and stuff that I was coughing up. I went and got checked; it was coming from the viral pneumonia but I had fluid in my lungs. I had some fluid in my heart,” explained Levesque. The former WWE star had a defibrillator put in after that and has since then taken retirement from Wrestling.
“As far as in the ring … I’m done,” he had said during an appearance on ESPN. “I will never wrestle again.”
He then became emotional talking to BT Sport, adding,” There are moments when they’re putting you out for stuff, and you think ‘This is it. Do you wake up from this?’ That’s tough to swallow and makes you think differently about life. It doesn’t make you any less driven for the things that you do, but it certainly makes you appreciate the things that you have more, your friends, your family.”
Triple H is currently working as WWE’s executive vice president of global talent strategy and development.
