On the occasion of Virat Kohli’s 500th appearance for his country, Rahul Dravid took the opportunity to explain what makes the former captain so skilled at what he does and reveals what is ahead for the illustrious batter. When India will play West Indies in the second and final Test of their first series in the current World Test Championship cycle in Trinidad, Kohli will enter the field for the 500th time in his illustrious international career.
At age 34, he continues to be one of the most reliable players across all formats of the game. While Dravid and Kohli shared the pitch together towards the conclusion of the former’s playing career, it has only been more recently that their friendship has really taken off as a result of the time they have spent coordinating towards their common goal.
His numbers and his stats speak for themselves and his performances are all there: Rahul Dravid
Dravid spoke to the media ahead of the second test against the West Indies. He spoke about Virat Kohli and his upcoming achievement of 500 International games. He said, “I think it is fantastic and he (Kohli) is an inspiration to so many players within this team and to so many boys and girls back home in India. His numbers and his stats speak for themselves and his performances are all there in the (record) books.”
The Indian team’s head coach praised the work ethic of Virat Kohli and how much effort he puts in behind the scenes. He said, “For me what has been great to see first-hand is the effort and the willingness and the work he puts in behind the scenes when no one is watching and that is reflected in the fact that he has been able to play 500 games.
The former right-handed batter spoke about the former India skipper’s energy and what he brings to the team. He said, “He is still going very strong, is very fit and the energy and enthusiasm he brings to the game in spite of playing 500 games and being around here for 12 or 13 years now.”
