In the ongoing Chennai Super Kings vs Punjab Kings in the IPL 2023, MS Dhoni finished the first innings with two sixes. In the over of the inning, Devon Conway was batting on 91 runs when he tried to slog the ball. However, he failed to time the ball and the ball almost landed in Liam Livingstone’s pair of hands. However, after having a long look, it was concluded that the ball touched the grass.

At this point, the team had reached 188 runs in 19.4 overs. With Conway’s hundred out of the equation, the team needed to get to 200 runs with Dhoni needing to hit two sixes. The former India skipper did the needful against Sam Curran, the costliest player of the ongoing season. Thanks to the CSK skipper, the team reached 200/4 at the end of the innings.

MS Dhoni lauded by Shikhar Dhawan and other former players

After Dhoni’s heroics, the likes of Kings skipper Shikhar Dhawan, former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar and another former player Sanjay Manjrekar react to it.

Shikhar Dhawan said, “MS Dhoni is an incredible leader, everyone knows that. And as a person also, he’s a gem of a guy” while talking to IPL broadcaster Star.

“MS Dhoni is a clever cricketer. He knows his limitations. We are seeing a new avatar of him this season. Earlier, he used to manage the team; this year, he’s also managing himself,” Manjrekar told Star Sports.

Gavaskar said: “Look at the crowd behind. The moment he hit the ball, they knew it was going into the stands. Amazing!”

Talking the game, the 2014 finalists haven’t given up on the chase so far. In the powerplay, the likes of Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh provided a great start and kept the team ahead of the required run rate. However, after their wickets, the chase derailed a bit and the required run rate kept increasing. However, in the 16th over, Liam Livingstone, who was injured a bit, scored 22 runs against Tushar Deshpande.
