‘Step in right direction’ – Priyanka Chopra comments on the Women’s Reservation Bill

The Indian actress Priyanka Chopra decided to speak about the Women’s Reservation Bill. For the unversed, the parliament has passed a Reservation Bill that grants them one-third of the seats at Lok Sabha and the state assemblies.

On Sunday, Priyanka Chopra took to her official Instagram handle and shared a screenshot of a news article. The headline of the article read, “Women’s reservation bill gets Parliament seal.”

While sharing the screenshot on your Instagram story, she captioned, “Inspiring a new age with this historic milestone (National Flag emoji).”  Adding further, “The passing of the women’s reservation bill- ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ is indeed a step in the right direction, but the crucial next phase is its swift and effective implementation. Here’s to an India that truly supports and empowers its women!” Earlier, many Bollywood celebrities praised the recent bill passed by the government.

Harshita stated, “It’s a matter of pride for every woman…I’m proud to be an Indian woman. If there would be 33 per cent of women in India (in leadership positions) then we’re going forward globally.”  Meanwhile, Kriti posted, “It’s a historic moment for the entire nation…In the coming years, the new generation will get an environment that has gender equality. I would say it’s an extraordinary thing that happened in our country. I’m thankful to Anurag Thakur (Union Minister) for inviting us here and making us a part of it.”

The list of celebrities who praised the bill includes, Kirti Kulhari, Harnaaz Sandhu, Hrishitaa Bhatt, and more. All 215 members of the Rajya Sabha voted in favour of the Women’s Reservation Bill. History was scripted on Wednesday by the Lok Sabha as the Bill reserving a third or 33 per cent of seats for women in national and state legislatures. The bill was passed with an overwhelming majority. Let us tell you, this bill grants one-third of the seats to women in both Lok Sabha and state assemblies. Also, Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam is the first bill passed by the Lok Sabha as it has shifted to the new Parliament building on Tuesday.
