Shoaib Akhtar, the legendary former Paksiatni pacer, was very vocal with his opinions throughout the 20-20 World Cup 2022. He did not miss an opportunity to point out times when they performed poorly, including Pakistan. At times, he was also very hard on teams for their losses.

Now, Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has hit back at the former cricketer. Akhtar, also known as ‘The Rawalpindi Express’, took to Twitter his emotions after Pakistan lost to England in the finals by five wickets. He simply tweeted an emoji of a broken heart.

However, the Indian pacer replied, saying, “Sorry brother. It’s call karma (heartbreak emojis),” he wrote.

Here is Mohammed Shami

Shoaib Akhtar had earlier launched a direct assault on the Indian team, claiming that reaching the semi-finals after defeating teams like Zimbabwe and the Netherlands isn’t a big deal. In a YouTube video, Akhtar stated that the Indian team did not deserve to make the final.

“India don’t have express fast bowlers or cut-throat spinners in their team. Their team selection was also confusing and the players were brutally hammered. Indian pacers can’t perform if the conditions don’t suit them. Very disappointing performance from India and they don’t deserve to meet us (Pakistan) in the final at MCG. Their cricket has been exposed today,” Akhtar said.

The Rawalpindi Express said that qualifying for the semi-finals wasn’t difficult because the group only has four teams, two of which are Zimbabwe and the Netherlands.

“Reaching the semi-finals isn’t a big deal. There were 4 good teams in total. You beat Netherlands and Zimbabwe, that’s nothing. India need to look at their leadership and the management needs to take accountability. It was a confusing selection as they went with Mohammed Shami despite having other good pacers at their disposal,” Akhtar further said.

In the meantime, England became the World Champions by beating Pakistan in the finals. Sam Curran, with the ball, and Ben Stokes’ brilliance with the bat helped the team win the match with five wickets and one over to spare.
