In the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, India skipper Rohit Sharma has been phenomenal with the bat. He has been phenomenal for India in powerplay as he has given India a great start. In the 21st match of the tournament India faced formidable New Zealand and Rohit once again did what he does best.
While chasing 250+ runs target Rohit gave a flying start to the hosts. He along with Shubman Gill added 71 runs for the first wicket and helped India to conquer the powerplay. Rohit in his innings scored 46 runs off 40 balls with the help of four fours and four sixes. In his innings, Rohit named some records at his back. He is now the highest run scorer in the ongoing tournament, with the highest number of fours and sixes.
Rohit needs only five more sixes to break the record for most sixes in ODIs in a calendar year. He has been phenomenal in the ongoing tournament, with 311 runs at an average of 62.20 in five matches. He is the first player to score more than 300 runs in the ongoing tournament. However, a poor shot selection from Rohit ended his iconic knock against New Zealand in Dharamshala.

Earlier, in the game, India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to field first. His decision went well with the team, as New Zealand lost two wickets for just 19 runs. However, after that, all-rounders Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell added 159 runs for the third wicket. In his innings, Ravindra scored 75 runs off 86 balls with the help of seven fours and a six.
Meanwhile, Mitchell scored his first ODI World Cup century as he hammered 130 runs off 127 balls with the help of nine fours and five sixes. In the end, New Zealand was dismissed for 273 runs in 50 overs. India star pacer Mohammad Shami clinched five wickets and helped the team make a comeback. If India wins this game, they will be table-toppers in the ongoing tournament.
