Followers on social media were confused by Sachin Tendulkar’s lofted drive monument in Wankhede, which was inaugurated on November 1, since they thought it resembled Australian batsman Steven Smith.
A magnificent and shimmering bronze monument of Tendulkar was unveiled by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday. Sculptor Pramod Kamble, who is located in Ahmednagar, produced the enormous figure, which is 14 feet tall.
The monument, which was first revealed in February and was scheduled for June or July, is marketed as the MCA’s homage to Tendulkar’s 50th birthday, which falls on April 24 this year and is being commemorated by cricket enthusiasts worldwide.
Tendulkar himself approved of the chosen posture, which was chosen after examining hundreds of action photos of the cricket legend. It was narrowed down to the iconic sixer shot with a lofted drive position, having his left leg stretched, torso slightly bent, head high, and the bat pointed skyward.
Tendulkar, a Bandra resident, not only played in some of his greatest games and broke or established several records there, but it also hosted his final Test match ten years prior, in November 2013, just before he retired.
Fans are creating memes based on the images of Sachin Tendulkar and Steven Smith’s statue that are going viral.
India vs Sri Lanka at Wankhede once again
Rohit Sharma was sent back to the pavilion cheaply in the present match versus Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium. The Indian skipper’s return home was not a memorable one. After setting a boundary with his opening ball, Rohit was outplayed and was bowled with a good ball.
The Lankan fielders gave Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill fortunate reprieves when they joined him in the middle. But both batsmen quickly found their rhythm and maintained the scoreboard ticking over. In the 17th over, both players achieved their half-centuries and helped India surpass 100 runs. However, both of them were dismissed while trying to accelerate the scoreboard.
