The West Indies vs India Test series has seen regular conversation between Virat Kohli and Joshua Da Silva. Nothing offensive or even remotely inappropriate, but the two players have been in each other’s ears throughout the Indian innings in Dominica as well as in Trinidad in a very cordial manner.
When Kohli had come out to take the wicket during the two-match Test series, Da Silva appears to have chosen this tour as a way to show off his love for Kohli. Thankfully for him, the legendary Indian batsman has been in the action for a considerable amount of time, first at Windsor Park and later at Queen’s Park Oval.
Like any other wicketkeeper, Da Silva wouldn’t be held responsible if his intention was to impede Kohli’s ability to focus at the crease. However, nothing in his language suggested malice; rather, there was only admiration and thanks for the opportunity to speak with his favourite opposing cricketer.
For his part, Kohli has proven more than willing to turn around and speak with the opposing player while maintaining a broad grin before regaining his composure for the subsequent ball. The RCB batter has always known when to draw a distinction and when to stop letting the chitchat take over.
Kohli and da Silva’s hilarious interaction
The superstar Kohli and the emerging wicketkeeper Da Silva had one such funny exchange. In the first, Da Silva made reference to the impending significant milestone as Indian No. 4 achieved his second consecutive valiant fifty of the series and began to gather up speed as he worked his way to reaching 87 not out at stumps on Day 1.
The modern-day batting master’s humorous response to the Caribbean glover’s comment about the century mark, which every Indian spectator would be expecting to come on Day 2 at Port of Spain, as it sparked a hilarious conversation that was all smiles. Virat Kohli turned around with a smile and responded to the wicketkeeper’s comments as he said, “You are obsessed with my milestones!”. In a wholesome answer, the keeper replied that “I know I am.”
