The India vs Afghanistan T20I series will commence on the 11th of January at Mohali with the Indian squad ready to compete. The squad is filled with some young and excited players in the mix with a lot of promise in them. There are young talents in the form of Yashasavi Jaiswal and Shubman who could play some great innings at the top and some ferocious big hitters in the form of Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube and Tilak Varma. The fans will be looking forward to this series on how they will perform and compete against an Afghanistan side filled with some exciting players in the ranks. This will also be a test for them to see if they can fix their place in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 as well.
There are also some experienced players in the ranks as well in the form of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, who will also be a great asset to the side. There are also the likes of Sanju Samson in the mix as well, who has been in and out of the side, but has found some great form in the South Africa series that will give him a lot of confidence. This is surely an exciting side that has the potential to give some great performances. Apart from them, there have also been some big players who will make their return to the shortest format after a long break.
Return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli
The news of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s return has finally come true after a 14-month break since the last T20 World Cup. Rohit Sharma will also be back to leading the side as well. Even though it has been a long time since these two have played a T20 game, it will still be a treat to watch for the fans who will see the great men play in this series. Rohit and Virat have been impressive in this format as well where both of them have over 3000 runs being the highest run-getters for an Indian in T20I’s and have over 10000 runs in T20’s overall making them the real powerhouses in the Indian batting department.
These two might not be back to their best in the series since it has been a long time since they have played in this format, but we cannot ignore the fact that these two have been giving consistent performances for years in all three formats and are among the best in the world. It will be interesting to see how they show up on the stage after 14 months and what are their plans going further. The future cannot be predicted for these two, but they can still not be underestimated since they have given match-winning performances in the past.
