During the course of his innings, Kishan broke several other records. He scored the fastest double hundred in ODIs off just 126 balls surpassing Chris Gayle’s previous record of 138 balls that he achieved against Zimbabwe in the 2015 World Cup. The Bihar-born batter became the seventh male player overall to reach the landmark in ODIs.
India won the match by 227 runs
He also scored the fastest 150 for India as he brought up the score in just 103 balls as his innings was studded with 24 fours and 10 sixes. Virender Sehwag previously held the record, reaching it against the West Indies in 2011 in just 112 balls. Kishan is now also the youngest player to score a double hundred in ODIs.
Courtesy of Kishan’s belligerent knock and Virat Kohli’s 44th ODI hundred, India posted a massive score of 409/8 in their allotted 50 overs. In reply, Liton Das & Co were bundled out for 182, handing India a 227-run victory.
Bangladesh skipper Litton Das was full of praise of the scintillating batting efforts of Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli after the game.
“Ishan and Virat batted really well, that cost us the game. Hats off to Ishan. We tried our best, but we didn’t find any solution. If the score would have been 330-340, it would have been a different ball game. They are a good side, and we played good cricket for two games, and will help our confidence,” said Das in the post-match presentation ceremony.
